Arts For All is a highly creative charity serving the disadvantaged communities of Tower Hamlets and Hackney. The organisation runs structured weekly art therapy sessions to engage people of all ages from diverse cultures and background and those with special needs. The centre sits within one of the most deprived areas of the UK, some 85% of families served by the centre are unemployed and three quarters have English as their second language. Through long term support, Arts For All builds confidence, helps people achieve their goals and changes lives.
At Arts For All we frequently go to schools, nurseries, hospitals and community centres, doing all types of creative projects.
In some cases we do a one-day session, using media not often available to the children or adults involved. This could be felt-making, encaustic art (a technique using hot wax), plaster workshops etc. On other occasions we run a series of sessions, making up a specific project. For example, working with a class of children on a drama and puppetry project over a period of several weeks, resulting in a production done in front of the whole school.
We are very fortunate in having the strong support of Oona King. If you would like to book us to come and work in your school, nursery, hospital or centre please call 020 7729 7111 or email Caroline Barlow
Over the years we have developed a special relationship with Pizza Express and this was them giving the children a cookery lesson!
